Funeral services for Judy Kay Tyra Beam, 79, of Lamesa will be held Monday, June 9, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Methodist Church with Pastor Dennis Adams officiating and being assisted by Pastor Robert Burke. Interment will follow at Dawson County Cemetery under the direction and care of Branon Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 8, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home.
Judy passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2025 in Lubbock surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born on March 1, 1946 in Lamesa, Texas to Arthur Eugene and Helen Louise (White) Tyra.
Judy was raised in Lamesa and graduated from Lamesa High School in 1964. She married Neil Beam August 8, 1964 in Lamesa at The First United Methodist Church, they were happily married for 60 years. Judy and Neil lived in several communities throughout the years, namely Big Lake, Texas for 25 years where they raised their family. Judy worked as an administrative assistant for Reagan County ISD, as well as Midland ISD before retiring.
After retirement, Judy and Neil enjoyed moving back home to Lamesa, and spending the spring and summer months at their home in Red Wing, Colorado. Judy loved crafting, sewing, cooking, but most of all spending time with her family and watching all of her grandchildren’s sports and activities.
She is survived by her husband, Neil Beam of Lamesa, Texas; children, Stacie Phillips and husband Jim of San Angelo, Texas, and Angie Watson and husband Kent of Lubbock, Texas; grandchildren, Emmy Phillips and fiance’ Layton English of Amarillo, Texas, Kort Watson of Lubbock, Texas, Wren Watson of Lubbock, Texas and Kylie Phillips of San Angelo, Texas; sister, Sherie Stokes of Lamesa, Texas, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Helen Tyra; and, brother, Gary Tyra.
