On November 12, Rosantina “Rosa” Barrera Flores, departed this earth.
Born October 8th, 1954, she migrated from Mexico and settled in Big Lake, TX.
At the age of 19 she married her husband, Pablo Flores, of San Saba, TX. They spent the next 49 years making a life in Big Lake and raising their family.
Rosa was a devoted wife and mother. Her deep faith in Christ was passed down to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed watching her novelas and spent hours crocheting intricate, beautiful items. You could always find a lottery ticket in her purse and everyone knew if she stopped at a store, she was coming home with a plant or an elephant. She spent her latter years traveling between San Angelo and Midland, spending time and spoiling her grandkids. Rosa enjoyed taking day trips down to Fredericksburg and could spend hours walking in and out of the unique shops on Main St.
She was preceded in death by her mother Maria Barrera and father Jose Barrera. Along with a brother, Jose Angel Barrera.
Survivors include her husband Pablo Flores of Big Lake, TX. Her son Roberto Flores and wife Sylvia Flores of Midland, TX. Her daughter Teresa Flores and husband Tony Morales of San Angelo, TX. Her granddaughters Caitlyn Flores, Arabella Morales, Aubrey Flores, Allison Morales and grandson Noah Flores.
Rosa is also survived by two sisters Yolanda Ramirez and husband Zeke of Big Lake, TX and Connie Levario and husband Paul of San Angelo, TX. Two brothers Rogelio Barrera and wife Margaret of San Angelo, TX and Joe Barrera and wife Gloria also from Big Lake, TX. Along with multiple nieces and nephews.
Viewing and rosary will be held at Johnson’s Funeral Home in San Angelo Friday, November 18th at 7:00 pm. Services will be held on Saturday, November 19th at St. Margaret of Cortona Catholic Church in Big Lake, TX at 10:00 am, with burial to follow at Glenrest Cemetery.
