Reta Bell Johnson

January 5, 1934 - April 4, 2016
Reta Bell Johnson, a long-time resident of Big Lake, made her journey home to Heaven on April 4, 2016, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
She was born on January 5, 1934, in Abilene, Texas, to Arthur and Allie Burton.
Reta loved people, laughter, cooking, sitting on the porch, watching children play, and taking care of others.
Two places Reta loved most were Big Lake, which was always home in her heart, and Autumn Grove, which easily became her new home because of the sweet and tender care she received from people who loved her there.
She is survived by her devoted husband and caretaker of 52 years, Elmer Joe, and three children: Scarlett, Sonny and Tracie (Troy).
Also, left behind are 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
On Thursday, April 7, there will be a visitation at 10:00 AM, followed by a Celebration of her Life at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church in Big Lake, Texas.
For those who prefer to make a donation in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association, 6055 South Loop East, Houston, TX,  77087, in her memory.
