8th Grade Drops Season Opener vs Coahoma

The Reagan County 8th grade football team saw their first action of the year against a formidable Coahoma squad last Thursday in Coahoma.
The Owls suffered through a slow start and could never recover in a 12-44 loss.
Coahoma opened the game with a 2 play drive and added the extra point to take a 0-8 lead early.
The Owls offense sputtered through most of the first half and turnovers gave the Bulldogs favorable field position.
Coahoma added 2 more scores in the first half to bring the halftime score to 0-22.
After a few halftime adjustments the Owls responded well in the second half, scoring on their first possession on a 10 yard run by Alex Sosa.
The extra point attempt run by Eddie Gonzales failed but the Owls were on the board 6-22.
The Owls were unable to hold the Bulldogs on their first possession of the second half an allowed another score and found themselves in a big 6-28 hole.
The Owls kept battling and scored on a nice 41 yard run by QB Elijah Gonzalez, only to have it called back on a holding penalty.
The Owls were able to keep the drive alive with some timely runs and pass plays to eventually reclaim the score on another 10 yard run by Alex Sosa; once again the extra point attempt fell short.
Coahoma added a couple of score in the 4th quarter to close the game.
