School Board takes first look at artificial football turf
Artificial turf may be, in time, coming to RCISD’s James H. Bird Memorial Stadium.
The school’s board of trustees met last Thursday and discussed the issue.
“That was really our first conversation about it, and what the costs might be,” Board President Mark Noland said. “I think we are interested in it, but feel there is too much uncertainty right now to move forward quickly.”
Noland pointed to the unknowns with school finance in the state legislature, and Reagan County’s tax base over the next few years as cause for concern.
“Right now we are taking an initial look at it,” Noland said. “We have a few options available to us as a board that we will explore going forward.”
