Saturday Election Day for City

Voters will have a chance to cast their ballot in the City of Big Lake's City Council election this Saturday.

Two at-large seats are up for grabs with incumbent Robin Collins and Melvin Davis, Jr. facing former council member Cliff Miller for the spots.

A total of 64 people cast ballots during early voting.

City Hall will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday for Election Day voting.

Council Member and Mayor Pro-Tem Phil Pool is the only candidate running for the mayor position.

Pool, once sworn in as mayor, will leave another seat on the council vacant.

The council will then have to appoint someone to that vacant seat to fill out the council.

Last year's City Election saw only eight percent (123 people) of the registered voters in Big Lake come out to vote.
