Reagan County ISD Teacher Arrested for At-Home Assault of a Child
Reagan County ISD teacher Kristee Dawn Helton, 44, was arrested Tuesday and charged with “Injury to a Child Reckless with Intentional Bodily Injury,” a State Jail Felony.
According to the arrest warrant affidavit, Helton assaulted her 14 year old child at home where she allegedly hit the child on their chest and shoulder region while holding a stylus pen. She also struck the child in the back of the head 3-4 times with her cell phone.
The document states the child had scratches on their chest and shoulder, as well as a bump on the back of the head.
Reagan County ISD Superintendent Steve Long said the district is aware of the incident, and will continue to monitor it.
It should be noted that while Helton is a math teacher at RCISD, the alleged assault did not happen on a school campus.
Helton was jailed in Upton County, and was released on bond.
As with all criminal cases, Helton is considered innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.
