City OKs bid to replace fire hydrants
Big Lake will have fully functioning fire hydrants soon.
The city council approved an $87,502.88 bid from David Darnel Construction last Tuesday to replace seven faulty hydrants within the city limits.
$50,000.00 of the cost will be paid through a donation given to the city by Chevron.
The remaining $37,000 will come from the city’s general fund.
“We wanted to make sure that Chevron knew how much we appreciate the donation,” Mayor Kyle Rockwell said. “Our crews would have been able to install the new hydrants, but it was going to take several months. Doing it this way will speed up the process, and make sure our entire community is properly covered.”
