BLEDC Officially Requests Old Waste Water Plant from City
Gloria Baggett was on hand last Tuesday night to pitch the Big Lake Economic Development Corporation’s official request for the City of Big Lake’s old wastewater plant property.
As part of her presentation, Baggett stated that the 16 acres of land located east of Big Lake off US 67 is the only prime real estate in the community that can be used to draw in serious nationwide retail businesses.
The BLEDC’s proposal is to pay around $2 million to have the old wastewater plant’s basins closed to TCEQ standards, and also prepare the site for pads for retail development. The BLEDC would then take ownership of the land, and use it to entice retailers to the community.
