Big Lake’s All-Star Roster Announced for February’s Harlem Ambassador’s Game
RCHS, Texas Tech, WNBA great Alicia Thompson to anchor Big Lake's team
Big Lake’s star studded All-Star Roster has been announced for the February 3, 2016 match up against the Harlem Ambassadors at the Reagan County High School Gym.
The All-Star team will be anchored by former Reagan County, Texas Tech and WNBA great Alicia Thompson. Thompson, who currently coaches basketball at Lubbock High School, finished her college carrier 2nd on Texas Tech's all-time scoring list. She also has a WNBA championship title to her name with the Seattle Storm in 2004.
Thompson, who was also a track standout at RCHS with four state titles in shot put, played for the Storm, New York Liberty and Indiana Fever during her six-year WNBA career.
Thompson will wear number 43 in the game, her number while at Texas Tech and the WNBA.
The family friendly event, brought to you by the Big Lake Chamber of Commerce, is FREE to everyone and will begin at 7 p.m.
The day will begin with an anti-bullying assembly sponsored by Subway at 10 a.m. in the High School gym. Three Harlem Ambassadors will be on hand to give a presentation to students ranging from 2nd Grade up to the Senior Class.
The fun will tip-off again at 7 p.m. at the High School Gym with the Harlem Ambassadors taking on former Reagan County ISD greats.
The Big Lake All-Star team will include: Scott Myers, Ed Mendez, Kyle Brown, Keli Rees, Callie Goodloe, Kaylie Gatewood, Daniel Hernandez, Troy Goodloe, Chris Chaney, Cindy Mitchell, JR Evans, Stephen Dodd, Edward Soto, Frankie Avalos, Chad Elkins, Cisco Chavez, Marcus Chavez, Joseph Smith, Kyle Rockwell, TJ Pena, Mason Matthews, Leticia Benitez and Cynthhia Saucedo.
Steve Long and Ken Campbell will coach for the All-Star team.
Trish Soto and Wendell Baucom will referee the event, so the Big Lake All-Stars should have the upper hand.
The event has FREE ADMISSION, and is brought to you by the Big Lake Chamber of Commerce.
There will be a Big Lake All-Star meeting on January 11 at 5:15 p.m. at the Chamber Office to go over the rules for the event and order shirts.
