Early Morning Fire Claims RV

Big Lake Volunteer Fireman Troy Goodloe watches as flames lick the roof of an RV Monday morning after he opened the back door. The RV, located off Mississippi Avenue on 10th Street, was ruled a complete loss due to the fire. Fire Chief Alan Garner said that the fire, that was reported just before 7 a.m., started behind a refrigerator. There were three people inside the structure when it started. All were able to get out before the flames spread. Garner said that fighting an RV fire can be difficult since you can’t send firemen inside. “You never know how sound the structure is below you,” Garner said. “They also have air conditioners on the roof that can fall down. You have to be careful with them.”
