Reagan County’s Jayslynn Reyes put her improvement over last year on display Friday during the 2018 UIL State Track and Field Meet.
The junior improved her performance on the big stage over last year in both the 100M and 200M Dash.
Jayslynn posted a 12.13 in the 100M to take sixth place in the event.
She was better in both time and placing over last year where she took 7th place with a 12.39.
Kelcie Simmons of Leonard took first place in the 100M while setting a new Conference 3A record with a 11.46.
The previous record, set by Tiffany Green of Hamlin in 2000, was a 11.62.
Jayslynn finished her day at the State Meet with a fifth place finish in the 200M Dash.
She again improved in both time and placing with a 25.27 in this year’s meet.
Simmons of Leonard took first in the 200M as well with a 24 flat.
Coach Wendell Baucom said he has been impressed with Jayslynn’s work ethic over the past year, and is looking forward to seeing what she can do as a senior next season in the Blue and Gold.
