Rose “Darlyne” Poynor (Memaw) was called home, to our Lord, October 21, 2018.  Darlyne was a member of First Baptist Church Big Lake.  She was always an angel in our eyes, so we know she is fulfilling her new role effortlessly.

She was born on the family farm, October 10th, 1931 to Joe and Lula Miller.  She was raised in the cotton fields of Orient and went to school in Tennyson, Texas.

As a teenager, Darlyne moved to Big Lake, Texas, with her family, as they worked in the oil-patch and she went to work for General Telephone as a switchboard operator.

While in Big Lake, she met her sweetheart, Pee Wee Poynor, and they married August 17th 1950, spending 66 wonderful years together before his passing in 2016.

They made their home in Big Lake, and together started a family trucking and construction company in 1957 which is still operating today.  Their 4 sons were raised on the grounds of the business where Darlyne worked as a secretary until 1975.

She was a devoted, loving mother, quite proud of her family, known as an affectionate woman who loved all people, and very giving to those who needed her.  While raising her 4 boys, she always had a full table to feed anyone who may show up, generally feeding 10 kids for lunch daily.

She experienced more earthly loss than one should but is rejoicing as she was welcomed to a heavenly reunion by those who preceded her in death; husband, D.D. (Pee Wee), and their sons, Winn, Wayne, and Buddy, and brothers Joe Winford and Billy Ray.

She is survived by one son, Joe D. Poynor, and wife Debbie, of Breckenridge, TX.; two daughters-in-law, Letha Poynor, of Big Lake, TX., and Marla Poynor, husband Britt, also of Big Lake, TX.; her beloved grandchildren, J.D.
