Alfredo C. Robles, 89, of Big Lake, Texas, passed away on Friday, Sept. 5, 2014, in Reagan County Care Center. He was born May 24, 1925, in Voss, Texas, to Rafael and Concepcion Robles. He was a rancher for many for the Smith and Harris families in the Water Valley and Big Lake, Texas, areas.
He was a member of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Big Lake, Texas, where he would support and help his wife with many church activities like preparing meals, church ground maintenance or whatever needed to be done.
HAMLIN-Jim Standfield Dixon, 88 of Merkel passed away from this life on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, in Abilene. A memorial service was held Friday, September 5, 2014, at the First Baptist Church in Hamlin.
Burial was held Saturday September 6, 2014, in the Stiles Cemetery, Big Lake Texas, under the direction of Adams-Foster-Ray Funeral Home.
Born April 30, 1926, on the Dixon Ranch in Reagan County, Jim was the son of the late W.H. and Octavia (Belcher) Dixon. He graduated from Reagan County High School on May 17, 1946 and received his Bachelor Degree in Agriculture from Texas Tech University in 1949. Jim married Barbara Anita Moss February 16, 1949, in Brownfield. Jim taught agriculture in Carlton, Morgan Mills, Moran and McCaulley ISD’s.
Danny Everett Turnbow passed to his Heavenly home on August 18, 2014 after a long and courageous battle with heart disease and diabetes just 11 days shy of his 60th birthday.
Danny was born on August 29, 1954 to Russell and Lois Turnbow in Big Lake, Texas. He grew up in Barnhart where he attended school until it closed. He graduated from Reagan County High School in Big Lake in 1973. He retired from the City of Big Lake in 2002 as Wastewater Management Supervisor after 25 years of service. He married the love of his life, Sharon Reeves of Brady, Texas in 1982. They would have celebrated 32 years on September 25, 2014.
Rita Levario Ramirez went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 in Big Lake, TX. She was born on March 2, 1958 in Mertzon to Juan and Maria Levario.
On December 20th, 1975 she married the love of her life, Jose Luis Ramirez, Sr. Together they had two handsome sons, Joe Jr. and Ricky.
Rita worked at Reagan County Elementary School for many years, and was remembered for her kind and loving nature.
When her boys were younger she would often be seen watching them play sports.
